Do I Even Like You?!

Listen Now | Episode 40 - The Mediocre Black Woman Podcast

There’s a particular ache that comes from realizing you’ve been more committed to being loved than being yourself.

I’ve been there. Most of us have. You bend, you shrink, you rationalize, and before you know it, the reflection in the mirror looks like someone who gave up pieces of herself just to be “chosen.”

This week’s Capricorn full moon has me deep in reflection, and the theme that won’t let me go is love. I wasn’t planning to talk about this. In fact, I was very salty about it. I tried to record something else. Spirit said: Nah. This one.

It all started with Meghan Thee Stallion’s song Plan B

“Ladies, love yourself because this sh*t could get ugly.”

In this episode, I unpack:

  • What happens when your self-esteem gets tangled in someone else’s inability to love you well

  • How platonic love with our sisters, our friends, our chosen family can show us what real safety feels like.

I also share a moment that had me in my feelings, a handwritten Juneteenth card from my sister that reminded me that I’m deeply loved just as I am. It brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks for reading! This post is public so feel free to share it.

This is not a “How to Heal from a Breakup” episode.

  • This is a “Remember Who TF You Are” episode.

  • A “Do you even like them?” episode.

  • A “You don’t need to earn love by abandoning yourself” episode.

  • And honestly? A love letter to the friendships, sisterhoods, and sacred full-circle moments that pull us back when we forget our own magic.

I know this one was tender. I know it might stir something.

But that’s what Dragged & Divine is for. To be real. To be raw. To be reminded that the mess and the magic can live in the same body—and they often do.

Goddess Thea
